ACCURATE BUILDING
By Pastor Fred. M. Mukiri
THE DEMANDS OF THE NEW SEASON – SESSION A.
Part of what I have included in this issue is precedence to a book that is in the process of production, which I am calling, “God’s Great Nation, The Church”. In it, I discuss at length what the process is that God is bringing this Great Nation. Scriptures call you and me rightfully, The Body. It should have a nervous system; some network that connects every part, to the rest of the parts. This nervous system as it sounds is a network of nerves; a connective, communication system.
1st Corinthians 12; 12, 14, 27.
For as the body is one, and with many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.
For the body is not one member, but many.
Now you are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
We are many organs, ligaments, connective tendons, bone framework, muscles, blood vessels, electric impulse centres, and all .These work in unison towards a common corporate purpose. But how does it all come to be, especially now, when the supposedly “Body of Christ” is in dire need of “remembrance”? By remembrance, I mean, bringing every ligament, tissue, sinew, organ to where it was to be connected for the body To Cease To Be Dismembered, Torn Apart, Dead Body. It Is Christ Who Said, In Reference To the Lord’s Table, “...as often as you do this, do it in re- memberance of Me.” He didn’t mean that we should live in want of memory. He was speaking of a reconfigurement of individual organs into one body.
PRELUDE TO THE BODY
Examination Of 1 Peter 2: 1-9 (Read)
The Authorized Version of the King James Bible, 1907 print, begins chapter 2 of 1 Peter with this word, “Wherefore...” It is a continuation of what is in chapter 1, because, well, scriptures didn’t have chapters and verses initially. They were put much later on for easy referencing .But that’s beside the point now. Peter is connecting between the salvation that came by knowing Jesus Christ and the durative process of why we have been saved .So he says ,based on that salvation ,there are things we used to be involved in that we need to lay aside – 1 Peter 2:1. Not only that, as we lay aside some things, we are to desire something else vs. 2, 3. From that point on, Peter unveils something that is supposed to turn us from individual, saved believers into what God wanted by saving us.
Beginning at verse 4, individualism diminishes and a level of corporateness commences. This means, the reason for salvation was not individualism; expressing personal desires and regulating God to a WAND that fulfils what “I” want. In fact, when the apostles of Christ watched Him pray and later desired to pray like him, they asked Him to teach them to pray. Jesus began His teaching by “Our Father...” - Matthew 6:9. That’s serious stuff. It means, in the arena of fatherhood, God is not a personal but Corporate Father. So, how do we grow and migrate from individualism, self - seeking and self - seeing people to a corporate household?
1 Peter 2:4 NIV... as you come to Him, the Living Stone...
Stone describes the material, the process and the technology of buiding. Stone also means the solid nature of the building. It speaks that what God is doing is not a revival. It is an establishment of a “Permanent standard”. Stone means, seasons of highs and lows will come, but change in seasons will not change the constituent nature of the Stone. The stone remains unscathed, unchanged, untouched.
There are two dimensions to our “...coming to Him”
1. HE SUMMONS.
2. WE COME.
It means, migrating to all we are to be: corporate Christ, is not a self-assertive, initially fleshly - driven. He calls, we come. That gives me courage to go on than a promise of a Jacuzzi, and a waterbed. It means, the straining work of construction is validated by His initial calling to build.
Coming is a journey, not an event
COMING IS A PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT TOWARDS THE LIGHT1 Peter 2:9 ...CALLED OUT OF DARKNESS INTO HIS WONDERFUL LIGHT. NIV We come to His light, illumination, knowledge. John 1:4, 5 points out that the life that Christ lived was the light or illumination of men. In other words, He didn’t live a self centered life .He lived a life that showed men how to live. He therefore becomes the pattern principle behind who we should cut out our lives.
1 Peter 2:5. NIV ...YOU ALSO ARE BEING BUILT INTO A SPIRITUAL HOUSE.Coming to Him has one definite product, a spiritual house. In durative process of coming, you who are saved are procedurally changed into living stones. In other words as you migrate into more of Him, there’s a fusion of the qualities on the Living Stone into the living stones that makes it a spiritual house. This is all the work of the Holy Spirit, that’s why it is a spiritual, not a physical house. At this juncture, it is clear to say emphatically, there’s no physical construction on Earth that can contain God.
Another thing I’d wish to note is this; we are coming to a Rejected Stone. That’s serious. When I saw that, I was shot through as with an arrow. Christ, The Living Stone is a rejected stone. But, who rejected This Stone is the issue. Men did.
But the same Stone, disqualified according to the bureau of standards of men, was chosen by God and Most Precious to Him. Precious is the Greek word, timios or timioteros meaning most valuable, held in utmost reputation. Synods and meetings of A.G.M’s rejected what God held in utmost reputation. They chose temporal standards not The Stone. They chose revivals, not The Stone. You only revive that which is dead to begin with. Viva is Latin for life. Re is a prefix to mean again. So RE-VIVA means bring life back that which had expired. They chose things whose constituent natures change with seasons. They rejected The Choice of God. No wonder they crucified Him.
1st Peter 2; 6 NIV ...SEE I LAY IN ZION...
There are a few things we need to get here. God says, “See” You can’t know this unless your eyes are opened. It’s an issue of discernment. When He says “...I Lay...” two things are implied;
1. It’s not a “dropping”. Lay is the word tithemi in Greek. It means, to place in a posture, purpose, ordain, and settle. It is a fixing or a settling at the right time and purposely. It means, from that time on, what is laid will never be uprooted. It is a permanent standard.
2. It’s a divine work.
He says “...I lay...”
2 Peter 2:6 is a quotation of an Old Testament scripture; Isaiah 28:16. In that Old Testament scripture, it is much more serious. It begins this way; ...So this is what the Sovereign Lord says... In other words, God is doing this activity in His sovereignty. There’s no agreement, no argument, no debate, no deliberation of a committee or a joint caucus. Meaning, no one is needed to choose the shape, size or qualities in the composition of the stone. He resigns this to Himself. If you read this verse in context (Isaiah 28:16), meaning, you back up a bit; to around verse 14, you’ll realize what makes God lay The Stone sovereignly. The people who God had entrusted to rule His people Jerusalem, a symbol of The Church, The City of Peace, were making a boast of having entered into a covenant with death. They had made an agreement with the grave, that what God wanted to do would not touch them. They made death to be their refuge and falsehood their hiding place. So God said as a response, “I Lay In Zion a Stone”. So the laying is supposed to counter a certain trust in a lie and falsehood. Laying is a judgment on all falsehood and a lying defensive system.
Zion Is The Seat Of God’s Government In The Earth – Psalms 84:7: Hebrews 12:22-24. From Zion, God has access to the other realms of the world and the universe.
Coming to Zion is coming to a harmony and a bending of all the following elements into one:
1. THE CITY OF GOD
2. BILLIONS OF ANGELIC HOSTS
3. THE CHURCH
4. GOD HIMSELF
5. SPIRITS OF THEN RIGHTEOUS MEN PERFECTED
6. JESUS
All these, blended together make up God’s Government. From this place, God’s Government flows to every other system and cosmos on the vast dimensions, both spiritual and physical. Sounds serious to me.
2 Peter 2:7, 8 ...TO YOU WHO BELIEVE... THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE...
COMING TO THE STONE IS JUDGEMENT
At the beginning of this periodical, I mentioned about remembrance. With the mentioning of the Table of the Lord, the principle of examination comes into play-1 Corinthians 11:28-34. That word examination and judgment are the same word; dokimazo in Greek. It brings the idea of discerning so as to separate.
Coming to The Stone produces a “separation environment”.
Two qualities separate at The Standard:
1. Those who believe.
2. Those who do not believe.
Believe, at this point doesn’t mean, an initial basic trust and dependence on God for salvation. Peter was writing to saved people, as we saw earlier on. Believe as used here is the word pisteuo in Greek which means a constancy of conviction of the truthfulness of God. It is the consistent constant, prolonged process pf crediting one’s life on the truthfulness of God. Meaning, as we come to Him, as we continuously migrate into higher dimensions in Christ, constancy of conviction in the truthfulness of God becomes our lifeline. You lose that, you stumble. Those who will miss such a constant conviction will in actual fact reject God’s standard, even though, outwardly, they may confess Jesus is Savior and Lord.
To such kind of people, Jesus, God’s Precious Stone changes instantaneously. He becomes a Stone that cause that causes men to stumble Vs 8. That can cause a dead man to rise up for a moment. Stumble is a Greek word proskomma, which means, occasion of apostasy, offence. I want you to think of God putting a rock that makes you stumble and be offended at Christ. You take offence at The Rock Christ because of disobedience. Lacking constant obedience to the message provides occasion for apostasy and falling away. The burden, therefore, is to keep on moving, migrating on into Him. Peter says verse 6 ...and the one who trust in Him will never be put to shame.
In this journey of migrating to all that Christ is, Satan’s intention is this; shaming you so that you disqualify yourself from reigning. But even through he is pursuing to ashame and disgrace us; God vindicates those who obediently follow. There is a new position in the Spirit, promised to all who respond right. By right response to the summon, it will result in perfection. We shall continue.
